Another option is using AI and merge the result with the original. Ottia Tuota has found following link : https://photobooth.online/en-us/photo-restoration (see https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Photo-Restoration--7245). I've used the AI one with a 50% merge on the original :

I am continually amazed by the AI software available, my daughter shows me things on her phone that are unbelievable. But I am retired and photo editing is one of my hobbies. I try to compete and usually fail, but it’s better than pinochle or bridge.

Editing photos is always a challenge and discovering new things keeps the mind sharp
