Colorized imege problems - N00BELIX - 12-14-2023

Hi all!
I am new to Gimp. I come from the Photoshop world, and have used it since V.6.

So. I have colorized a image online, and its okish. However the colors of the mouth goes all caplooey.
How would the best way be to fix this? (this image is straight from the online colorization service, and i have not done anything with it.)
The lower lip is brownish, and the upper lip and tongue are all wrong.

Any tips are highly appreciated Big Grin

Is that the largest image you can get ? Larger will be easier. However, my 2 euros worth.

IMHO the bit to keep is the tongue. Free select  SelectFree that ... and then invert the selection Select -> Invert
Use Colors -> Auto -> White Balance on the selection Then kill the selection Select -> None

Then using a stock fuzzy brush  (1) Reduce the brush size to suit the image (2) Reduce the opacity (3) Select a reddish colour from the top lip (4) and over-paint the bottom lip.

That should give something like this

As a long time PS user I will let you fix the eyes Wink

First I used Colors/Levels and with the black, white and gray pipettes. Then I corrected the lips with a light pink-orange color of the brush, mode LCh Color with different opacity / hardness and strength.

Don't use online colourizers. Desaturate the image that has been made a mess of and recolourize it yourself.

Thank you everyone for great answers!
Yes, i will colorize theme my self eventually.
I have done this many, many times in Photoshop. However, since i do not have access to PS any more, i have just started using Gimp.
There is a lot of things that i have to relearn coming from a different software that i have used for a really, really long time. Gimp is just not in my fingers yet Wink

Again, thank you all for help!
