Stroke Path 3D Effect
#11
I had a try as well.

The paths were created in Inkscape with hershey text. There is still room for improvement. For example, the m can be decomposed into 3 separate paths with each part being stroked on its own layer. Then you can play with the order of the layers. And reverse stroke where necessary.

Did you try making a "vanishing tail" on the brush?

What is a vanishing tail? Is that a fade? I didn't use any brush dynamics at all.

No, I meant make the end (or some side) of the brush feathered/partially transparent

No, just a solid brush.

For anyone wanting to play with this, there is a vast supply of "brushes" here:

In this example, the A is made up of 3 separate paths and stroked on 3 separate layers. Separate paths so that individual bits can be reversed if necessary. Separate layers because changing the layer order gives different effects.
