Pressure Sensitivity Not Working
#1
Hi,
I have a Wacom Intuos S 2 that I use to draw with Gimp. I am fairly sure that the pressure sensitivity was working in the beginning, however now, it is not working anymore. My guess is this is a setting I accidentally tweaked. Both my tablet and my stylus are set to screen in the input devices configuration, and the pressure curves are default, but it's still not working, any ideas?

Caveat: I am no expert when it comes to graphic tablets. I have an ancient Wacom which gets dragged out occasionally. I use linux and it 'just' works.

If using Windows make sure that the tablet drivers are the most recent for your Windows version.

However, since it was working but is not working now, I would first check the brush dynamics. Easy to overlook and might be set to none or a dynamic which does not include pressure.

Other than that, maybe start from scratch, Go into your Gimp profile ./gimp-2.8 find the file devicerc and disable by renaming to something like devicerc-bak Start up Gimp and it will create a new default file.

Thank you so much! Big Grin I am running linux as well so my drivers were not the problem, I had already checked the dynamics as well. I renamed that file, went in and changed my stylus mode to Screen, and BAM!!!! it works. Thank you so much, I have been very frustrated with this problem and now I figure out its just a simple fix.

Did anyone ever figure this out? I am still trying to get my surface pen to show up as an input device in Gimp on my Surface Go, let alone pressure sensitivity. About to cave and get photoshop....

I am on the same boat. Surface Pro 5th gen have a different pen than older surfaces. Most forums says to install winTab, which is not a valid option for the new SurfacePen.

Anyone ever managed to get pressure/inclination from the new surfacePen on windows10?

here's the devicerc i get:

Code:

Hi. I'm new here and signed up to post the same question: No pressure sensitivity. I found a photo tutorial over on Deviant Art: http://www.deviantart.com/universal-tige...-308775257

I'm using Windows 10/ GIMP 2.10.14 / Wacom 13HD This fixed the problem for me...quite sure I never would have figured this out on my own.

Hey, I made an account just so i could share how i figured it out. I didnt need to rename anything or repeatedly try to change my device from disabled to screen...

Instead i went to Edit > Modules > and there i disabled the mouse receptor one (i am sorry, i cannot be specific here not only because it may vary depending on your device, but also because it disappeared once i disabled it and when i tried my wacom tablet again, the pressure started to work as if by miracle)
if any one knows more about what i did, please feel free to clarify!
