Gradient Tool
#1
Sorry if I'm missing anything obvious. The gradient tool appears to be missing from the toolbox. Was able to open a gradient dialogue box on the right (using ctrl G / Windows / Dockable Dialogs/ gradients) but am unable to make it work. Thanks.

Hello.  No, it's not really obvious.  In recent versions of GIMP the tools are stacked.  On the left side of the workspace, the Gradient Tool should be found under the Bucket.  You can hover over the various tools to see a popup info of what's there.  Then Right click on the button [not on the popup] to get a list from which you can actually select a different tool.

..or ungroup Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Toolbox and untick "Use tool groups"   as  https://i.imgur.com/sH8dMrW.jpg

however, there are lots of tools now, my advice, keep them grouped.

The gradient dock is for selecting a gradient. From the screenshot, the active tool is the path tool, look in the tool options.

The Gradient tool is grouped with the bucket fill, unfortunately no hot-key (although one could be assigned)
