Newbie seeking advice
#1
i'm new to image manipulation and I stumbled upon Gimp. Is there a beginners guide for mac users? The official manual has illustrations which are different from what i am seeing. I suspect that is because I am using a mac and the illustrations are on a PC and of course there are other differences, such as key shortcuts.

Maybe you've already figured it out.

Here is a link with some video tutorials for Gimp on Mac OS's.

All shortcut are the same, naming on mac is just different

just 2 things to remember

1- Ctrl (Control) => Command
For example Ctrl+C on PC = Command+C on a Mac

2- Alt => Option
For example Ctrl+Alt+V on PC = Command+Option+V on a Mac

Shift => Shift (same)

Enter => Return
Delete => go to Edit > Clear
The Delete key on a mac is NOT a true delete key even if they wrote it => it's a backspace, thus for mac, instead go to the top Menu Edit > Clear if using the Backspace does not work.

Last but not least, Preferences and other things that you might see in the top menu Edit on tuto => are in the top menu GIMP on a mac (between the apple logo and "File")

Then you should be good to watch any tuto for any operating system as GIMP is the very same as everywhere

Maybe because you stumble upon an old version of the manual user.
For example look at those 2 urls:

1- https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/gimp-tool-dynamics.html
2- https://docs.gimp.org/2.8/en/gimp-tool-dynamics.html

one is for GIMP 2.10, the second one is for GIMP 2.8

Just check that the url is for 2.10 (anyway you will still find old screenshot in later updated manual Wink )
