I do not really understand the floating bit. Adding a drop shadow will only make it look more 'floating'
There is a limit on .xcf file size, it is quite large 2 MB or so but if you save as a filename.xcf.gz it will be compressed and might post.
Otherwise make a screenshot of the whole Gimp window Edit -> Create -> Screenshot then export as a jpeg & attach as per https://www.gimp-forum.net/misc.php?action=help&hid=11
