I do not know. You got an 'Add to menu' message on first use? I always decline and make my own launchers. You might have to do that.
The two appimages are separate and self-contained so you can use either. Gimp 2.10.18 will be a bit of a waste of space, you can move to a backup disk somewhere (or delete it) What does remain is the appimage user profile. What you set up for 2.10.18 remains for 2.10.20
