Effects-Texture-Tile Problem - Kamuix - 10-31-2020

Hey everyone. Is there a filter setting or a way to Tile like seen in this image?

See attached file

Thanks for any help!

For Gimp 2.4?

RE: Effects-Texture-Tile Problem - Kamuix - 11-03-2020

2.10 sorry

Maybe this can help you. http://www.gimpchat.de/pflasterstein-mosaik-gimp-script-scm-von-diego/

That is a great seamless tile. I would like to know where it was made. I tried earlier but nothing like that and keeping the pattern seamless. Like diegos script worth looking into the mosaic filter. Bump mapping is the way but difficult. The Gimp Lighting Effects filter while it can apply a bumpmap, wrecks the seamless-ness.

Anyway, I put some thoughts together here: https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-Seamless-Tiles-and-Gimp-2-10-symmetry-mode on making seamless tiles.

- Start with a new layer with standard fore- and backgrond (black / white)
- gimp menu :
- Filters / Render / Noise / Cell Noise
- Filters / Blur / Gaussian Blur
- Filters / Artistic / Cobblestone Mosaic 2.6 (= Diego script)
- Filters / QtGmic / Contours / Local Orientation
- Colour / Curves to optimise colors
- Colour / Shadows-Highlites to further optimise

RE: Effects-Texture-Tile Problem - Krikor - 11-08-2020

Denzjos,

I tried to follow the steps you went through, but the Cobblestone script didn't work.  Sad
Are there any more updated versions of this plugin?

Error:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Cobblestone Mosaic-2.6 Warning
Error while executing script-fu-cobblestone-mosaic:

Error: eval: unbound variable: plug-in-gmic

  GIMP Warning
'Cobblestone Mosaic-2.6' plug-in left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is the script associated with Diego's name?
Through the link (http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3574) given in the .txt that comes in .zip, the author would be Graechan.

@Krikor. I also had an error using the plugin, but if I opened QtGmic the conversion and a new layer is made. You can work further on that layer. Don't know why the program does't get back from GMic Qt ? Must be easy to solve (by a script programmer)

I found a version of the script that worked.

P.S:
Btw, would it be possible to replace the Cobblestone Mosaic 2.6 script with ---> Filter - Distorts - Mosaic?

I will try.

I think something like that would be easier to make look good with a 3d program, but there is no reason why you can use popular texturing techniques for 3d in 2d.

I don't know, maybe . . .
Just draw a seamless pattern and then use that pattern to make a diffuse map, an ambient occlusion map, and then a bump map.

It isn't as good as the image in the first post, but I think the idea works.
Here's the xcf.  I just use different layer modes
