How can I add and remove tools from the current toolbox?

Is it required to setup a new (=my own) toolbox or can I modify the default toolbox (preferred)

Several things to try:

(1) Go into Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Toolbox and un-tick Use tool groups. This will display all the tools

   

(2) Go through the list and hide the ones you do not want to see. The "eye" icon toggles visibility on/off  That gets a reduced number of tools showing in the toolbox.

   

(3) You can re-order the position of the tools. Click on a tool icon and either use the little up-down buttons or click and drag into position. Set the most used tools in a comfortable position.

   

Remember. All the tools are still available in drop-down form in the Tools menu
