PNG export options
#1
I'm reading gimp Docs in gimp.org. There is an option called "Save background color" in exporting png file dialog. The Docs says like this.

If your image has many transparency levels, the Internet browsers that recognize only two levels, will use the background color of your
Toolbox instead. Internet Explorer up to version 6 did not use this information.

I tested with 3 layers of transparency. Then I chose the background color of the toolbox yellow. I saved it as png with the option, "Save background color", checked.

I opened the saved png file on firefox. However the opened png file doesn't show the background color, yellow. Why is that so?

Because modern browsers all know how to handle PNG properly, and won't use that background color?

Alright. So the option is pretty much useless. I got it. Thanks.
