What does a bear do ?
#1
The city authority cut down some old trees at the back of my house. The trees belong to them, and found to be diseased. A shame to see them go, someone counted the rings and came up with 164 years old.

But it reminded me of this cartoon, About what bears do....

Kamagurka - Kama in short - is a Belgian cartoonist, widely considered the godfather of Dutch-language absurd/alternative comics and cartoons. This is one of his cartoons, the tree says (in Dutch), translated : you are on my property.

I tried...
I enlarged the image with the intention of counting the rings and arriving at the same 164 found.
But I couldn't make that count.

Perhaps the city authority should replace an artificial tree at the site to fulfill the needs of the bear community in the region. :-)

Still plenty trees for bears to use Wink
In other places where trees were removed, new disease-resistant strains planted.

Still plenty of trees Rich which is good. The disease could be fungal like ash die back. These are spread by modern transport and globalisation. Shipping also carries marine pests and seaweeds from one region to another.

I live in that part of the world and it is a terrible thing to happen. I just cannot understand why.

Not many bears in that area, so I suppose they will become very-very constipated.

I saw on the news yesterday that a 16-year-old young man was arrested on suspicion of having committed this barbarity.
Unfortunately the bad is already done.

A 60 year old man has now been arrested.
If he is found guilty I suggest 2 years of community service planting sycamore trees.

A 16 year old does not normally own a chainsaw (at least not in the UK), it had to come from someone.

I did hear a rumour that tiktok was the reason for the vandalism, but then I do social-media nothing. Zombies with smart phones.
