Does gimp have any 'texture' option for brushes?
#1
I just started playing with gimp and was wondering if there is such and option.
Basically it's the feature in Krita or photoshop brushes that allows the brush to pick up texture from a black and white alpha texture simulating a real papers 'tooth'.
was wandering if I am missing something as I searched the web and could not find any information about it.

If there is some script or another solution that somebody made please share it.

I did not quite understand the question, perhaps an example could further clarify the desired effect.
In any case, there are several brushes available at this link, maybe there you will find the answer about this possibility https://www.deviantart.com/search?q=brushes%20gimp

Or If some of the forum experts answer, it would be even more enlightening.  Wink

it's the standard texture tab in most programs that have brush editors-here is a pic from paintstorm but krita and photoshop and clipstudio and preety much any other
software has an equivalent.

Nothing like that in Gimp, you had better stick with Krita.

What is available.
The mypaint brushes have some preset textures but nothing to set your own texture. https://i.imgur.com/SfLUzjT.jpg
The clone tool can paint a pattern and you can define your own pattern in the clipboard. Not a mask, does not take the FG color https://i.imgur.com/AokDri6.jpg

Maybe in the future if the mypaint brush engine gets updated.

Ah that's a shame, what attracted me to gimp were the LCH color pickers which are more sensible for painting, guess I'll have to make do with what is available.

Have you tried after painting with your desired color, make a selection of it and then use a bump map using your desired texture on it?
