Add Webcam to "Create"
#1
Greetings:

How do I add a USB webcam to the File>Create  menu?  I'm using 2.10 on Win7.

Thanks.

Your best bet would be to fake the TWAIN support for scanners. Otherwise use a script outside of Gimp that take the picture (cheese or ffmpgeg) and calls Gimp on it.

For Windows, unless the situation has improved, the Gimp TWAIN plugin (32 bit) does not work with Gimp 10 64 bit. Worth trying with an older 2.8  GIMP

If you ever use your linux as stated in your profile.
Not much better, you need sane-v4l backend and that is totally missing for Debian based distros. (I remember using this years ago with PClinuxOS edit: just fired up the PCLOS desktop and got a Gimp / webcam / XSANE capture, still working)

Best I got is linux VLC, (might work with Windows) which picked up my ancient webcam. A bit of a 'droste' shot.

...back to the junkbox for you Wink
