Another look at a question that often comes up.
Adding text to an animation is often a beginners problem.
For three or four layers, text can be added, duplicated and merged layer-by-layer. More that that and there are scripts to automate the process. This demo uses one of those interleave-layers-0.4.py which you can get at ofnuts sourceforge page

. Unoptimizing the gif (if required) to make all layers canvas size.
