Advice on best way to re-colour fingernails
#1
Hi  Big Grin

I've checked all over the net and just can't find anything that works for me.

I make resin jewellery and specifically rings. I make them in several different colours.

I would like to take a picture of someone wearing a ring (a close up of the hand) and change their nail colour to the colour of the ring (one for each colour ring). I need to keep the result looking realistic i.e. shiny like it's proper nail varnish. I'm thinking that will mean messing about with the hue/saturation? I've tried but am not that proficient so maybe the settings are incorrect. I've tried searching for tutorials but can't find anything for the 2.10 version of Gimp.

Could anyone talk me through it or point me in the right direction with settings and things?

That would be really helpful and much appreciated! x

PS My operating system is Windows 10

I don't think there is a "best" way. There are different ways that have slightly different results. No right or wrong, just a little different.

Here is one good way:

If you want the new color with the same amount of saturation, Color>Map>Rotate colors works well.
