possible to create comics with animated panels?
#1
Nice forum I am trying to create a motion comic. Just am looking for a simple comic creator program like 'comic life 3' which I have which is perfect for what I am doing but the only problem with it is I want to add simple quick Gif animations (or whatever format that can be used for adding animations) but it will not allow for this :frowning: its solely only still images that can only be used. I came across 'GIMP' which am told could help me in my task here.

I just want to create basic comic formats which merely allows you to use animation formats like gifs in some of the panels.

Can gimp do this? is it capable? Thx.

It depends what you mean as "simple animation". A caption over an image, maybe a simple speech bubble.. not too difficult.

If you want to add some action to a character then it then becomes a matter of your artistic ability.

How do you make an animation? Build it up in layers, then export as an animated gif file.
File -> Export and give it a name ending .gif The sort of settings to use: https://i.imgur.com/nb7k9VM.jpg

Which would give this: https://i.imgur.com/JvGVXVI.gif

Well I mean say I had a gif. Could I simply add it to a comic panel in GIMP.

You probably can. Something like the animation added in this thread https://www.gimp-forum.net/Thread-I-am-t...3#pid11503

but

What image format and size is your comic panel? Very likely ends up a monster sized image file not much use for anything.

Post a link to an example if you can.

edit: I looked up the comic life 3 application and lots of information on what it can do, but finally export formats are HTML or quicktime video. Quite large sizes - letter size down to Web pages.

While Gimp can make the animated part of the page, in my opinion it is not the tool for your requirements. HTML - have a search for editors. Quicktime is a proprietory format - can not think of any suitable video editor.
