Sigh as much as you like.

I also find it strange that there is no Gimp procedure equivalent to the remove alpha menu entry.
Only flatten the image and there IM is a winner.

Ask the Gimp developers about that one. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/
