Really just to mention that the Batcher plugin has been updated for Gimp 3.2 https://kamilburda.github.io/batcher/

@iborg You never got an answer, I did not really understand the problem and still not sure.
As I see it: You set Batcher up with your workflow, ( quote shadow/highlight / unsharp mask / resize) destination and format. All open images are the list so no need for selection.
...or maybe it is something different required.
