Can I use the move tool to move the image without moving the layer?

Hi there, I regularly update Gimp now 3.0.4, but it still drives me crazy the image moving all over the place when I pull a selection string or just scrolling the image around with my trackpad.  Do mac user find it more stable downloaded from macports? in the meantime I tried to use the move tool to move the image but it moves the layer too. Thank you

I don't know what you do to cause this, but among the layer locks there is Move lock if that can help.

It works well, thank you, but it locks the image as well which is showing now the prohibitory sign. Like you said, I am doing something wrong to start with and one day we'll know what. For now I can always move the image with the trackpad. Thank you
