Cannot Browse Windows network FS
#1
GIMP 2.10.8 - Windows 10 PRO (64-bit) [Version 10.0.17134.472] - Windows Network

When I want to open a file in a subdirectory, and I open a  networkdrive, I can't browse through the directory tree.
Eg. I open a drive M: with DIR1, DIR2 and DIR3 in in it, and I want to browse further in DIR2, I get an error:

Could not read the contents of DIR2
Error when getting information for file "M:\DIR2\DIRECTEUR": Input/output error

It seems that GIMP wants to read the complete tree, and needs access to all. The directory DIR2\DIRECTEUR is not accessible to me, but others in DIR2 are, and that's where my files are. So the only possibilities are Open Location... where I have to know exactly where the file is and how it's called, or browsing with the Explorer to the place, abd use 'Open with ...' there.

Why can't I browse from within GIMP? What can I do?

Is there a parameter I can set or maybe a switch to change, so that GIMP doesn't need to read the whole directory tree?
