Circular text Upside Down
#1
Question
Hi guys, new to this forum and to gimp overall.
I was trying to make this logo, and to put a circular text on the upper part of the circle. The problem was that the text kept going on the bottom, and if I rotated it and/or flipped it so it would be on the top, the text would be upside down.

Thanks for the help

The text starts on the first anchor of the path (if you are new to paths, read this), and you have little control on where the first anchor of the circle is.

One solution is to rotate the path produced by text-along-path around the center of the circle. For this, just set the "Rotate" tool to path mode (rightmost icon in the "Mode" line at the top of the Tool options).

The quick answer to get you going:
Use the Flip Tool, set to path mode, and flip your circle path vertically. Try again, text should be the right way up.

Explanation: Paths have a beginning and an end. And a direction. If the text is upside down it can be corrected by reversing the the direction of the path. Flipping the path vertically is a trick to reverse the direction, so corrects the text.

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately I was not able to turn it around. When I rotated the path from the center of the circle, the path would go on the position I wanted it to be but the text was upside down and I couldn't change that by flipping it.

First of all, thanks for the help!
When I flipped it once vertically and once horizontally, the text was in the right way but the curve of the text was in the opposite as the circle's curve, the curve wasn't on the path but opposite to it.

A screen print would help so that we can see what the problem is.

If you are getting upside down text:-

1. Create your circle path
2. Flip circle path vertically
3. Create your text on path
4. Rotate as required to position text

Some things to try:

Put a new line character (Enter) as the first character of your text; alternatively put the new line character (Enter) as the last character of your text

Use the Ofnuts ofn-text-along-path plug-in, available here:
