Multi window mode mode faults in 3.0.4
#1
Hi, Using gimp 3.0.4 and Debian.

Is anyone else having problems when two images are open in multi window mode?

It's causing extra behaviour when doing for example:
Image -> Guides -> New Guide (by percent)
Image -> Guides -> Remove all Guides
    File -> Export As

one or more of these occur as well:
    Lock a path
    Lock and unlock layers
    Make a layer visible

I cannot spot a pattern that triggers it apart from it's worse the more that's in the image e.g.  having paths and/or layer masks present.

It's fine in single window mode.
It's fine in both single window mode and multi window mode when only one image is open.
I have not tried it in other versions of gimp 3 as I only have 3.0.4 available.

Kubuntu 24.04 - Gimp 3.0.6 and I can replicate that, at least as far as the locked path,

A Gimp 3.1.5 (gimp, org appimage) is the same, even easier to demo. Image with selection. No 2 image selection to path. Path is locked. The first opened image is a bit strange as well, selection to path - no lock. Repeat and the path is locked.

Thanks for trying it out Rich, good to know it's not just me and on 3.0.6 also.

I've found the extra behaviour varies, sometimes it does more things, sometimes just the locking, I guess depending on what's in the image.

I suppose it's going to want a bug report unless there's already one.
I'm not familiar with doing that or finding the right terms for searching for existing bugs in gitlab.

Edit: Reported it here:

I wrote out the exact steps in the bug report but that's not enough, Bruno wants a screen recording.  I cannot do that. These are the steps:

With gimp already in multi window mode from a previous session.

Open gimp.
Create a new image.
Create a second new image.

In the second image:

Add a new layer.
Add a layer mask to the new layer.
With the path tool add a new path.
Drag a guide into the canvas.
Do Image -> Guides -> Remove all Guides

The bug report also has the undo history dialog produced.

Rich sorry to ask this but any chance you can screen record it and add to the bug report?
