I took a look on this link. There are quite of bit modification..an I could follow it but one user who follow wrote:

"Right, Akky, I have done as you say, but still nothing showing up in Filters...."

So, I hesitate to follow and lost time achieve nothing. Huh

Meantime I would like to know how to use existing GIMP to better edit images.
Any short to the point link/recommendation  would be helpful.

Actually it is pretty resent info but unfortunately  it doesn't provide a solution(see on bottom)
I have Catalina as well but be able to install Gimp 2.10. except this plugin.
I have an another question that probably could solve on GIMP.
I have different sizes  images.
How to resize them(make smaller) using GIMP for web(resolution 72)?
thanks

"Is G'MIC currently not working on Catalina?
When I try to install it for GIMP 2.10 I get this error
“libX11.6.dylib” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash."

Bitmap images have sizes in pixels. For the web the resolution is irrelevant. Use Image > Scale Image to get the correct size in pixels for the web.

For printing (eg printing on paper) the resolution is used. You can change the resolution with Image > Print Size. When you change the resolution the new print size is shown.

I am interested with web. images. Ok: I know how to resize them. Image -resize.

But if I want to improve color after resizing  what procedure to follow?  The color kind of not clear.

Assuming that I don't have this fancy plugin since it not compatible yet.

Should  I go to Colors ... and then what Color Balance/Color temperature/Map/etc?
Right now I randomly  try to improve pictures..
Is there any short clear explanation what all those options entitled to do and what order to go from one option to another?
thanks.

There is no magic formula. Each image will have different requirements.

You are doing the right thing. Experiment. You can always use Edit > Undo (or Ctrl-Z)

@User

Can I make a comment just on computer use. Using a Mac does make using Gimp any easier. Gimp is developed in Linux and then ported to Windows and OSX.
It is therefore meant for linux/Windows type of hardware.

But I've hold track pad and could see different modes without loosing them.

You are not going to get very far with a trackpad. My advice is go and get a regular mouse. Either an eye-watering costly Apple one to match your eye-watering costly computer or a more reasonable priced one (and hope it works).

Many functions require a right mouse button, so you do need that. https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/ri...k-3610351/ A center scroll-wheel/button helps but you can get away without one.

In common with many plugins, the plugin is grey-ed out until an image is open. Some filters might be greyed out if the image is in the wrong colour mode. Get used to it.
When the gmic filters are updated there are 520 filters of all sorts for all uses. Have a look at examples http://www.gmic.eu/gallery/

Big subject. All sorts of ways. All depends on the type of image.

Please start a new thread for this No point tacking more question on the end of this.
Attach the type of image you want to edit and you will get advice.
