Copy colored text.
#1
Hello,

I am trying to copy a layer which contains colored text to another project.

When I do this via "Open as layers" it comes out black and white.

How do I do it properly?

Thanks

Fixed,

if you are interested set Image> Mode> RGB
before you copy your layer into the project. My project was set to indexed.

A very quick fix indeed.  Speaking as another newbie, there are a lot things in GIMP that aren't immediately apparent.  It requires a lot closer attention to the workspace itself than lots of imaging programs you may have used before.  But finding those things feels really nice when it happens, and the things you learn tend to stick with you for next time.

In Gimp you can click-n-drag a text layer from one image to another and it remains a text layer.
