"Create from Clipboard" problem
#1
Windows 10 64
Gimp 2 10 22
I am trying to create a new file, using "Create from Clipboard", from a rectangular image on Clipboard but the image that is pasted is square. (ie only part of the image is displayed)
I have tried with several rectangular images with the same result.
It appears that my Gimp is defaulting to a square format.
How do I free it to respond to the dimensions of the image on clipboard.
(When I past the image to MS Word it pastes the correct dimensions)
thanks

Did you try Image>Fit canvas to layers after the paste?

Otherwise, never seen this, and AFAIK there is nothing in Gimp to force the aspect ratio of what is pasted.

No, "Image/Fit Canvas to Layers" does not solve it.
The problem arises when I copy an image from an email.
I find I can use the work-around of copying from email, pasting the image into Word, then copying it again. It then pastes to correct dimensions into Gimp.
A bit weird, but things happen, don't they?

Look at Image > Print Size

Are X resolution and Y resolution set to the same value?
If not, change one so that they are the same. (Break the chain link to be able to do this.)
eg both should be set to 300dpi.
