Edits Saving wrong
#1
Hi all,

I'm new here. I've tried searching for this but can't find it. My edits are coming out all wrong. The colours aren't correct, if I crop the changes are in the wrong place. 2 edits in one image (with only one save) goes all wrong. I've attached 3 images to try to explain it.

Using GIMP 3.06

Thanks,
Paul

1. an image I made (Untitled.jpg)
2. a screen shot from gimp (Chng1.jpg)
3. the output file (Chngd.jpg)

Can't reproduce. Are there any layers? Is the Curves filter "merged"?

It looks like a bug with both layer effects (fx) and active selection involved.

With an active selection it gives the black area (1)  Turn selection off and it is (2)
You can keep the selection active if the layer effect (fx) is removed.

Thanks for the heads-up! Yeah, the active selection is unintentionally adding a mask to the NDE filters when exporting. We fixed something like this for saving XCF files, so I'll see if I can get that applied to general file format export as well.

Thank you! I think this is the issue.

I hope this gets fixed soon, it was never an issue for me in 2.10.

Well, you will have to wait (probably) until Gimp 3.2 comes out.

Until then, before you export to a jpeg image, use Image -> Flatten Image.

To preserve your work always use Image -> Save for a Gimp .xcf file which keeps layers / selections / layer effects ....
