Free-handed/Path-tool selection/inverse selection does not work
#1
Hi guys! I've been trying to get a proper selection/inverted selection to crop out in Gimp 2.10 for about two hours now. I've done all the advice I've seen on a variety of forums: press Enter to activate selection, deactivate/activate Opencl, all that jazz. But it still doesn't work. Any clue why? Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the layers, but since I'm very new to Gimp, I'd value any piece of information I can get.   Blush

Thanks!

PS: I've included a screenshot of what I was trying to do. Essentially, I wanted to invert select to crop out the image around the selection (main figure) but every time I tried, I'd get the exact same image, only slightly cut out on the border.

At the top if your Layers list, your have three icons: brush, move, checkerboard. These "lock" things, and the "pixel-lock" (brush) is engaged. Click-it to unlock and retry.

Hi @ofnuts and thanks for the answer! I've tried it but it still doesn't work. All it does, once I've created my pathway and activated the selection, then reversed it to cut out everything I don't need, is either nothing or crop the image into a square, which is not what I want.

With the pixel lock off and an alpha channel added should go like this: https://i.imgur.com/iJTRACc.mp4

An alternative, is copy the selection and paste as a new image. That will work even with pixel lock on : https://i.imgur.com/sNRSe4Y.mp4
