Gimp version:

Title says it all.
I've been using GIMP for more than a decade on a few computers.
This time a fresh install doesn't start.
Absolutely nothing.
Suggestions?

No replies ? Where are all the Windows users ?
I do occasionally install Gimp in Win 10 / 11 VM's without problems.
Which version of Gimp? - The latest Gimp 3.0.8 ? or something else. Installer from gimp.org or maybe from the Windows store ?
Is the installation over an existing Gimp install ? Do you have an old Gimp User profile from earlier installation ?
By default Gimp now installs to
C:\Users\"your name"\AppData\Local\Programs\GIMP 3 Is that your installation ?
or is it the alternative C:\Program Files\GIMP 3
Have you tried starting Gimp in a terminal ? Any messages ?

I sometimes have the same problem with GIMP 2 and GIMP 3 on Windows 11. Double-clicking the GIMP icon on the desktop doesn't start GIMP. In that case, I try launching GIMP directly (the GIMP .exe file). If that doesn't work, I use CTRL-ALT-DEL to see if GIMP is listed. The CTRL-ALT-DEL key combination allows the user to quit the stuck application. If so, try quitting GIMP on this list. If you have already launched GIMP multiple times, then gimp appear multiple times in the list. Quit all the gimp files in the list. Try launching GIMP again from the desktop. If GIMP doesn't start again, quit it in the list with CTRL-ALT-DEL and then launch the GIMP .exe file. I think this is a Windows 11 issue. Sometimes I have this problem, sometimes not. I didn't have this problem when I used Windows 10.
