Actually, in my case, it tries to open the folder in .var but cannot find it.

That looks like the message that results from clicking the button at the very right-hand side - the one that looks like a filing cabinet. The button between that one and the box containing the file name (looks like a sheet of paper coming out of a file) should show you the files that are in the .config folder although (misleadingly) it claims that they are in the .var folder!
