Gimp 3.0.6 appimage - 'buntu 24.04 / Mint 22.3 only

That would stop the mouse working for some reason.

Edit: Just for info:  It is a MATE DE. The Mint 22.3 install from the ISO was a straight forward install.  Mint partitioned the VM and wrote the system and the standard apps.  I did an apt update / apt upgrade which pulled in about 15 updated packages.  The only thing I installed was synaptic so I can easily check on versions but not used to install anything. It is a clean installation.

I installed Gimp 2.10.36 using the package install method in Mint's Software Manager.  Python was mismatched somehow, so no Python plugins worked.

After this, I did finally try Mint's Flatpak 3.0.6.  Immediately I found that Resynthesizer and Beautify threw up errors when attempting to open. I just copied over the plugin folder from the AppImage 3.0.6 config files I already had.  So, really, I'm not sure if I did the install correct on those 2 plugins or not. Gmic did work, though.

I started to think, even if I did mess around with the Flatpak 3.0.6 and got the plugins working, what would I have?  It would still just be a shell of the Appimage 2.10.38 install I had, plugin-wise, simply because there simply aren't that many 3.0.6 plugins available yet.

Eventually, I decided to downgrade Mint back down to 22.2 Cinnamon.  I'm right back where I started before updating Mint but, everything works properly anyway.

I can use a solid and dependable Gimp 2.10.38 AppImage and toy around with the Gimp 3.0.6 AppImage as both work again and I can type text in them.

Thanks for joining me on this bizarre journey, Rich, I know it's been a wild ride.   Smile
