How Can I remove Border
#1
I took a logo and put it into RGB mode, and then added an alpha channel.  I then cut the background color to make the logo transparent.  After changing the canvas size, I now have an unwanted border around the image.  How can I get rid of this border, so I can continue editing the way I'd like?

right click on the layer in the the layer stack/dialog, then select Alpha to selection in the context menu, then go to Select ➤ Shrink.. select 1 pixel or 2, then go again to Select ➤ Invert then hit that Delete .[Del] button on your keyboard

IMO you better off to find that font name like uploading a letter image there https://www.myfonts.com/pages/whatthefont and then search a free alternative on dafont or 1001fonts

The unwanted border is the boundary of the layer. You can resize layers when you change the canvas size (thee is an option for this in the dialog) but it can also be done at any time with Layer ➤ Layer to image size
