How do I achieve this particular effect?
#1
My question is a bit hard for me to word, so I instead made a simple illustration to demonstrate what particular effect I'm trying to achieve:

Basically, I want to do what is shown in the image, but with this weapon:

Firstly, is this possible on GIMP, if so, what tools may I use?
Any help is welcome.

That is a terrible graphic, full of artefacts.

Best I can suggest: see this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/XHez97N.jpg

1. Use the fuzzy select tool with settings
2. Addition mode
3. Feather edges with small setting
4. Select by LCh Lightness
5. Click in the areas to select (including any small areas)

Now grow that selection by 1 pixel - Select -> Grow

Fill that selection with black - easiest way, drag the black F/G swatch into the canvas
Invert the selection Select -> Invert Colour pick a grey and fill, same as before

Kill the selection Select -> None

There will be bits of touch-up to do, - up to you.

Thank you for your help, as a newbie I really appreciate this, as one last question, do you advice me to use the Mybrush tool to do the final touch ups, or is there another way?

No - not for this sort of silhouette type of image. It is a matter of cleaning up edges mainly. Use a tiny brush and paint in either black or the gray. You can paint in straight lines using click - hold shift down - drag - let go
