The other with layers is a bit more tricky. I'm so noob on Gimp.
I agree with you that it's a lot faster to use the tools designed for the specific process.
I'm on Debian, downloaded Satty from releases https://github.com/gabm/Satty/releases I'm on Wayland.
My current workflow is full screenshot(this way I don't have to put a synced screenshot to be able to get the menus screenshoted), then edit with satty and postprocess with Gimp, I can integrate in a single image a longer process as depicted in the image I submitted.
The screencast with the mouse and kbd is great, how do you produce that?
