How to make my layers window longer?

Can someone please help me fix this? I have tried to drag up the divider line between the layers and brushes dock windows to see more of my layers. But it won't work, I'm not sure how I even changed it to make it look like it is now. But if anyone could help me fix it before I lose my mind, that would be great.  : Where you see the red square, that's where I tried to drag up from to make my layers panel longer (to view more layers than just 1-2)..

Possibly a tab in the dock above has a size limit that prevents enlarging the bottom dock. In this era of very wide screens I use two columns to have more vertical space where needed:
