I'm getting frustrated now.

I made an earlier post on how my templates were disappearing.

After hours of frustration and copying and pasting I have come to a dead end. I copied and pasted a template arc's contents with all the old resolutions into the new one however it says this.

I installed gimp onto another laptop and it works fine

templaterc file empty? Should look like this for a default Gimp.

Could be anything, Windows security is an increasing PITA or installing over an existing Gimp 2.8 maybe.

Where does it come from? Look in C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\etc\gimp\2.0 for the master file. Should look like this:

If that is empty, something has corrupted the system. You could try copying that one over from your working Gimp, see if it works, see if it correctly restores the user file, see if anything overwrites the file.

Could be one of those rare occasions for a full re-install. Uninstall Gimp, Delete any remaining files. Rename the gimp 2.10 profile. If you have a Gimp 2.8 profile rename that. Install to default locations.
