Identifying a Font
#1
I have a GIMP file that I created some time back. Fast forward to today, I am using a new computer which apparently doesn't have the font that I used in the design installed. When I open the GIMP file, the font is still applied within the design but it can't be edited and will not show the name of the font. Is there any way to identify the name of the font at this point?

If you have the text layer in a Gimp .xcf file there is a plugin that should give the name.

Just make sure you do not try and edit the layer with the text tool. The font reverts to the Gimp default 'sans'. In fact keep well away from the text tool. After the plugin is installed in your Gimp profile right click on the text layer and look for the entry bottom of the menu.
