Layer to grey scale
#1
Is there any method to convert a layer and its contents to grey scale ? I had to turn image > mode > grey scale to achieve that.

Color-to-gray acts a bit as tone-mapping on the (virtual) luminosity channel in practice. You can do a poor man's HDR by:

- duplicating the image layer
- applying C2G to the bottom layer
- setting the top image to Color mode

The only problem with that is that C2G is quite slow and noisy, getting a usable setting requires patience.
