Make tools dialog floating by default?
#1
Hi! Is there some way to make the dialogs that appear when, by example, you want rotate an image, float instead of be kind off docked, and they remember their positions? Is annoying when rotating or some other tools, the options of the tool become attached to the upper right corner. Usually it cover something i want to see. I need to detach it and move the window outside the canvas to be able to see what im actually rotating.

Not the answer you want but using the middle-click and drag (or space-bar and mouse move) you can move your canvas within the window, thus uncovering its top right corner.  With both methods, adding a shit key rotates the canvas (reset with !), and adding a control key zooms it.

Thanks! Im aware of what you mention, but thanks anyway! would be great to be able to float them by default, or even greater, dock the tool dialogs.

As with other requests, I suppose that will require the devs to add to the code.

Just a suggestion and it all depends on how you have your Gimp layout set up and the circumstances, sometimes-just-sometimes
The TAB key toggles hiding the docks.  When hidden the tool "control" parks top right where the docks were.  It might be just enough.

When complete TAB toggles back.    Otherwise as Ofnuts, move the canvas.
