Mask doesn't leave outline
#1
Hi-
When I use any of the masks they no longer leave the little gray dotted mask outline like they used to on Osx. I am running the latest version GIMP 2.10.14 on the latest version of OSx. When I run Gimp on my Surface Pro with windows 10 I do see the mask outline as expected.

Has anyone experienced this or have a fix?

Thx

Do you mean the 'crawling ants' border of an active selection ? If so, then this is a bug due to macOS bigsur.  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/5952

macOS has broken Gimp yet again.  The Gimp developers say:
-----
..if you click on the "quick mask" button it will correctly mask any non-selected regions
copy'n'paste-as-new-image correctly copies the selected region of the source image.
but the actual mechanism/trick used to draw the selection-outline marching-ants for it no longer works on MacOS 11, and it is this mechanism/trick we need to replace....

Yes, the ants. Thanks for the info.

Ironic because this trick was discovered by Apple developpers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marching_ants
