Odd colours in GIMP 2.9.6
#1
I've just installed GIMP 2.9.6 on my MacBook.

Can anyone please explain this odd behaviour in the Colour Picker dialog box?

ffffff is supposed to be white!

Just wondering how you get a color set as your screenshot.

I would expect to see something like this (this linux Gimp 2.9.7)

Out-of-gamut maybe, do not know. If you entered ffffff manually did you hit enter?
Have you tried the sliders? Hue should be zero.

Try Edit -> Preferences -> Color Management -> Reset Color Management

I didn't need to hit enter as I didn't enter ffffff.

This is what I see when I open GIMP and click on the background area of the colour selection tool below the toolbar that shows the foreground and background colours. It should be white, it shows it as ffffff, but it's actually magenta.

If I change the background colour using the picker and then click on the 'reset' button, it reverts to black and magenta, not black and white.

This is a development version... use at your own risk. Any weird behavior should be reported as a bug on https://bugzilla.gnome.org. Discussing it here is pointless since we aren't the Gimp developers.

Well... It is a Partha version so best ask him first.

A bit strange, defaults to black and magenta. Magenta is used as the default 'out of gamut' colour. Try turning that off in the color preferences.
