Opening RAW file formats in gimp 2.10
#1
I am trying to use gimp to edit NEF (nikon RAW) files, but it gives me this message:

There is no RAW loader installed to open 'Raw Nikon' files.

GIMP currently supports these RAW loaders:
- darktable (http://www.darktable.org/), at least 1.7
- RawTherapee (http://rawtherapee.com/), at least 5.2

I attempted to add RawTherapee, but must be doing something incorrectly because i am still unable to open the files in Gimp. Huh

Could anyone tell me which of the loaders they recommend, and how to install it so it will properly work with gimp?

Thank you!!  Big Grin   Heart

I do not think you are.

I can not get it working correctly either, Windows 10 64 bit / Gimp 2.10.8 / RT 5.4

The sequence should go -> Select file in Gimp -> that opens file in RT -> close RT which sends back to Gimp. I have had RT working that way sometime in the past.

The best I can suggest is set the preferences in RT for an external editor. Open Gimp -> Open RT -> Open Raw image -> Send Raw image to Gimp -> (close RT if required)

Edit: Looks like a not-so-recent bug see: https://discuss.pixls.us/t/gimp-hip-hip-...ah/10288/5

off topic
As sore subject for me. I hate these overblown-do-everything applications. I want to use nuFRAW, Just when I get nuFRAW working with the new code in Gimp 2.10.6 (linux flatpak), along comes 2.10.8 Back to not working.
edit: Just re-visited nuFRAW in my 2.10.8 flatpak and it is working. There was a flatpak up-date maybe that fixed it. Do not know. Happy again Wink
