Newbie Issue with Transparency
#1
Hi.

I am trying to use GIMP to remove image backgrounds and make them transparent, but after i have supposedly removed the background and exported the image it removes the transparency and adds what ever color has automatically been selected as a background color in the color selection dialog. How can i get past this?

Thanks.

Likely because you export to JPG. That format doesn't support transparency, use PNG instead. If the image is intended for use in modern browsers, you can also use the WEBP format (in Gimp 2.10), that combines the advantage of both PNG and JPG: lossless or lossy compression, support for transparency.

I changed the format and now it works again, thank you so much.
