Please help! (edit: 32 bit Windows installation)
#1
Hi, I'm new with Gimp.
I tried to install it yesterday, version 2.10.8, on Windows 7, 32-bit, but when i open it and try to open a file to edit, it crashes, and says:

'GNU Image Manipulation Program has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'

Please help, how can i fix this?

Thank you.

There is a problem with 32 bit Gimp 2.10.8 on some 32 bit Windows installation. Go back to Gimp 2.10.6

There are three Windows installers for 2.10.8:

gimp-2.10.8-setup.exe      09-Nov-2018 23:45  190M
gimp-2.10.8-setup-1.exe    10-Nov-2018 23:44  194M
gimp-2.10.8-setup-2.exe    14-Nov-2018 16:50  194M

If you didn't use the -2 one, maybe you could try it.

-2 is the default version you get when downloading from the main page at gimp.org

The trouble is the problem is not consistent. It only happens on some Windows 32 bit installations. Unfortunately not the one that the Gimp developers use.

For anyone searching and comes across this topic. Some Windows 7 32 bit installations and Gimp 2.10.10 - same problem as with Gimp 2.10.8 - stick with Gimp 2.10.6 (rev 1).
