Problem in applying Gradient to Layer Mask
#1
Exclamation
Hello everyone !

I am a new user of GIMP 2.10 and am facing a weird problem while using the Gradient tool to apply a gradient to a Layer Mask. After the usual procedure, when the Gradient type is selected, the cursor is not changing to the usual Gradient tool selector(square with a horizontal line).Instead ,the cursor displayed is the one last selected from the ToolBox.

No matter what I do,the Gradient tool cursor is just not displayed.

Please help !

Are you selecting the gradient from the gradient dock ?
Are you sure the active tool is the gradient tool ?.
Possibility

With the gradient tool selected.

Can you post a screenshot of the problem ?

Since 2.10.20 icons in the toolbox are "grouped". This is shown with a small triangle at the bottom right of icons. If you click on that, you get a list of the tools in the group.

See Edit>Preferences>Toolbox to revert to un-grouped layout, or change the visibility/order/group of the tool icons.
