Problems with Export as.
#1
I'm trying to export a project with 2 layers as a png or jpg and it looks like only one of the layers( or even part of one layer)  is being exported.  I tried to "merge down" the layers and then use the rectangle selection tool to select the entire image.  no workie.  would appreciate any help/advice.  GIMP 2.10.32 on windows 10 64 bit.  total newbie.  please be gentle.

I don't select anything when I export to jpg or png.  The image that gets exported is everything that is visible within the canvas size.  If you view-zoom-fit image to window you should see the image that will be exported.

I cannot reproduce this problem. I can't imagine what you're doing wrong.

Would it be possible for you to provide a screenshot of your canvas along with the layers window? Or make the .xcf of this project available as an attachment?

As Krikor's post a screenshot will probably give the vital clue and a shot of the export dialogue helps.

However as a guess, this 40 second animation  https://i.imgur.com/42JCth4.mp4  where:

Two layers and I roughly outlined the canvas size.
Move a layer and only part is visible.
You can see the whole thing using View -> Show All but only the original canvas size is exported.
Increase the canvas size to fit the layers Image -> Fit Canvas to Layers
If you want to be doubly sure then use Layer -> New from Visible before exporting.
Remember, jpeg format does not support transparency. Any transparent areas are filled with the current background colour.

Are you trying to export via a script by any chance? The APIs to export things only export the active layer.

Do you have the 'view all' on and is the image out of the image boundaries?
