In Photoshop under Windows, one can see in the RGB Levels panel the effect on each colour of adjusting the black and white sliders by holding down the Alt key while moving a slider. See attachment. Is there any way of getting the same view in GIMP 2.10? Thanks in advance for any solution.

You can use either Colours > Levels or Colours > Curves The default channel is Value, change it to R G or B

Tick the Preview and everything you will do will be "live" (with preview) on your image
