Realistic GIMP Focus Blur Plugin - Once lost, now found!
#1
I did not create this plug-in, but I went searching for it a few months back for a project but couldn't find it anywhere online. I was combing through my old laptop today and found the zip file from 2014. I uploaded it to Google Drive so other people can try to use it.

What is it? Its the most realistic optical focus blur I've used aside from Snapseed, Google Camera, and PS. Has a lot of bokeh adjustments and looks very convincing if used correctly. Here is the link to the file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OabSFgy...sp=sharing

I can't promise it'll work with the newest version of GIMP, so don't ask me for tech support. Enjoy!

I am a total believer in as much transparency as possible. Hate those 'smart' hyperlinks where you need to look in the browser corner for the URL. Plenty people I have come across who ignore security and 'click-n-hope'

This one, Why?

Is it a function of Google Drive? Google well known for data slurping always adding a new hurdle / new ways to 'monetize' everything. Would I want to request the file ?  I would prefer not to.

Maybe the name of the plugin as a starter, I probably already have it in an archive.

The link appears to not be public... only available to Google accounts.

So, worse than I thought.

Also, to people interested, even if we should leave the OP the benefit of doubt,  downloading an unknown piece of software without source from someone knobody heard about before is not really recommended.

It happened to me when posting the second 'Guide', and discovered it only when somebody clicked the link on this forum and I got a (belated) email from Google requesting my agreement to the download.
I hardly ever share anything through my Google account, so it took me a while to realise that
* apparently, the defaults when sharing through a link have changed, or
* the option to give access to 'anybody with this link' has gone a layer deeper, or both.
If the poster really means it, wait a while until he notices the trouble, and changes the configuration.
(Ideally, one should always try one's own link after posting it, but we are human Smile )

I have the Windows executable for a plugin called Focus Blur:

Despite it's age it seems to run in GIMP 2.10.22 on Windows 10

The google link in post #1 is now 'fixed' Still needed (almost) endless cycles of capcha to get to a download option. As Kevins post, it is focusblur.exe, for Windows. Version 3.2.3 and is 32 bit. There is a slightly more recent version 3.2.6 here: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4016#p49431

Also a samj v3.2.3 64 bit version. see: https://samjcreations.blogspot.com/2018/ and look for Filtres anciens pour Gimp 2.10 64 bits Windows Suite 3
