Is there a way to use *.8bf plugins in GIMP 3 ?
#1
I have a bunch of Photoshop *.8bf plugins - some are quite good, and I would like to be able to use them in GIMP 3.
I tried PSPI - doesn't seem to work...maybe I am doing something wrong here.

Any ideas?

Your old Gimp scripts and plugins will not work with Gimp 3.0 - that includes PSPI which goes back to Gimp 2.8 days.

Those .8bf filters are a particular sub-set. Best bet if you want to use them is try IrfanView and export the result for use in Gimp 3.0

Using Widows 11. AFAIK you can have both Gimp 2.10 and Gimp 3.0 installed. Use Gimp 2.10

Edit: Consider alternatives. The gmic_gimp_qt plugin is available for Windows Gimp 3.0 http://www.gmic.eu That has 600+ filters Probably has an equivalent for your requirements

As rich mentioned,  use another free program. Paint.net is a free program and has an option to search for all .8bf files on your computer. Most of them work with paint.net.
I've tried to linked paint.net with the nikplugin.py in gimp 3.0.2-1 but that doesn't work. With gimp 2.10.38 and PSPI that was possible.
