Remove dotted lines from previous text placement
#1
Sad
Hi there! having trouble finding the answer as to how to remove the dotted lines from a previous text placement after i move said text.  It remains visable no matter what i've tried. And when i try to add filters to the current text, such as emboss, it only applies the filter to the ghost dotted text.  Any help would be much appreciated.  (brand new to Gimp)

Thank you!

Always better to give a whole screenshot of the Gimp interface if you can, saves guessing.

My guess is: ref screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/4WA9cbU.jpg

You made a selection in order to paint in some of the text (1)

Then you moved what was a text layer, now a regular layer to a new position. leaving the selection behind.(2)

The solution is easy, Select -> None to turn off the selection.(3)

Everyone does this as beginners, there are better ways.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful!  It happens when i add a drop shadow and then choose to remove the shadow, and move the original text, so i'll try this next time I come across this.
